Why Season 2

Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Rupal Patel, and Mohammad Nazim were confirmed to reprise their roles as Gopi, Kokila, and Ahem Modi/Jaggi Modi with the release of the first trailer (double role). Vishal Singh revealed that they were asked about resuming their role as Jigar Modi, but declined.

Rucha Hasabnis declined to reprise her part as Rashi Modi in the next season, citing the fact that her character died in the previous season and that she did not want to play a role in a traditional family drama.

Sneha Jain and Harsh Nagar were confirmed to resume their lead roles as Gehna and Anant on September 13, 2020. Vandana Vittlanee, Swati Shah, and Manish Arora were confirmed to reprise their roles as Urmila Shah, Hetal Modi, and Parag Modi from the previous season with the first look of the series.

Aside from the previous season's cast and leads, the show's recurring roles were cast with Jay Pathak, Akanksha Juneja, Nadia Himani, Prakash Vaghela, Aliraza Namdar, and Anuradha Kanabar.

Soon after, it was reported that the first season's cast was only shooting for a few episodes in order to introduce the show's new protagonists.

Akanksha Juneja, the lead actress, took a break from the set in June 2021. The show focused on Hema Desai, aka Nadia Himani, during her absence. Because of Juneja's absence, the storyline was slightly altered, and a new character, Krishna, performed by Sanket Chouske, was introduced.

Audience and Media Reviews

"Ahem's enigmatic presence in Gopi's life, Kokila's sass and injustice towards Gehna will keep you fascinated," the Times of India said. India Today slammed the new season's introduction as needless, while also criticising the previous season, saying,

"The show took three huge leaps over the period of seven years - eight years, ten years, and four years. That's a total of 22 years. But they still have something to say to the audience? Needless to say, the show devolved into farce on multiple times.

Although Saath Nibhaana Saathiya attempted to be progressive, the show was fundamentally retrograde."
